HOW WE ENSURE THE QUALITY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF ORAL AND WRITTEN FEEDBACK TO STUDENTS THE INDIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
“Feedback is information about the gap between the actual level and the reference level of a system parameter which is used to alter the gap in some way” • (Ramaprasad, 1983) • For an assessment to be formative, it requires feedback which • Indicates the existence of a ‘gap’ between the actual level of the work being assessed and the required standard. • Requires an indication of how the work can be improved to reach the required standard
Why Feedback alone is not enough ? Gave up altogether? Frustrated? Confused?
Feed – up ensures that students understand the purpose of the assignment, task or lesson, including how they will be assessed. Feedback provides students with information about their successes and needs. Feed – forward guides student learning based on performance data.
