  3. The notation of a sequence can be simply denoted as {an}, meaning a1, a2, …, an, … For any three consecutive terms in an arithmetic sequence, … , ak – 1 , ak , ak + 1 , … akis called the arithmetic/geometric mean of ak – 1 and ak + 1if the sequence is arithmetic/geometric.
