Advent: A Time to Wait • It’s Meaning • It’s History • It’s two-fold Purpose • It’s Opportunities
Preparation Idea #1 • You don’t have to do it all – key – not is not to bite off more than you can chew. • Less is more! • Gifts • Holiday Traditions • Spiritual Practices
Preparation Idea #2 • It doesn’t all have to be done before Christmas day. – There are 12 days of Christmas. • Make yourself a bare bones list of what actually has to happen before Christmas day
Preparation Idea #3 • Don’t feel like you have to decorate everywhere.
Preparation Idea #4 • Pare down on the light display.
Preparation Idea #5 • Slice and bake cookies. Leave the option to take the easy route if time is an issue.
Preparation Idea #6 • Simplify, simplify, simplify. Sometimes you have to let go of some of your grand Christmas plans.
Preparation Idea #7 • Remember that kids are easily impressed! This goes along with the “simplify” thing. Kids are going to be just as happy with hot chocolate straight from the microwave as they are with a fancy hot chocolate bar from pinterest with marshmallows in the shape of snowmen.
Preparation Idea #8 • Put hot chocolate (cooled off) in sippy cups/cups and go look at lights on St. Lucy’s feast day (Dec. 13), find live nativities near your house to visit, go sledding or ice-skating with the family.
