  4. 421,000 Number of people who were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver…

  5. 5,474 Number of people killed in 2009 by distracted driving. Source: NHTSA.com

  6. Of those people killed in distracted-driving-related crashes, 995 involved reports of a cell phone as a distraction (18% of fatalities in distraction-related crashes)

  7. New Utah law effective May 13th 2014. New law is putting more restrictions on cell phone and electronic use while driving. Now illegal to do the following: • Take or view photos & videos • View emails or IM • Dial phone numbers • Access the web • Enter data • Change music Source: ksl.com

  8. Utah has the 2nd most expensive fine for texting and driving of $750.00 behind Alaska which is a whopping $10,000.00 according to CBSnews.com

  9. In some states, the penalty for getting in an accident and killing a person can be as light as a fine. • As of 2009, Utah passed a law stating that texting and driving is a “Wilful act” therefore can land you up to 15 years in federal prison and/or a fine of $10,000.00 if the accident causes death or injury due to texting and driving.
