  1. Respironics BiPAP-Vision

  2. Classification • Electrically powered – internal battery powers Vent Inoperative & audible alarms if AC power lost. Error code 205 if internal low battery condition. • 2 modes • CPAP • S/T • Set Rate • IT in seconds • IPAP • EPAP

  3. Circuit • BiPAP circuit (with exhalation port or Whisper Swivel) • Humidifier or HME • With heated humidifier need circuit with water traps. Cannot cut into regular BiPAP circuit to add traps.

  4. Start Up • Plug into AC mains & Connect to 50 psi gas source • Connect BiPAP circuit - don’t cap • Power switch RU corner on back panel – ON Dispos-able inlet filter O2 module Fuses

  5. Power-on-self-test (POST) initiates

  6. After POST, Start “Test Exhalation Port”

  7. Follow steps on screen, block circuit, “Start Test”. Exhalation (castle) port

  8. Exhalation port test in progress

  9. Exhalation Port Test • Analyzes leak rate of exhalation port • If successful – the value of “Pt. Leak” will be displayed • If unsuccessful – “Tot. Leak” will be displayed • EPT must be performed when using the Plateau Exhalation Valve because the leak is significantly different than the port or swivel.

  10. Test Complete, press Monitoring to exit. Monitoring

  11. Pressure Flow Trigger Criteria in S/T • Time Trigger (Rate) • Flow Trigger • 6 ml inspired volume detected • Patient flow exceeds the shape signal (a shadow of the flow signal delayed by 300 ms)

  12. In S/T mode • Only patient (flow) triggered breaths are flow cycled (PS). • Time triggered breaths are time cycled according to the set Inspiratory Time.

  13. Pressure Flow Cycle Criteria in S/T • Time cycled • Set Inspiratory Time • A 3 sec maximum IPAP time has occurred • Flow cycled • Flow reversal detected • Patient flow is less thansignal flow • Spontaneous Expiratory Threshold achieved – another way to flow cycle SET

  14. Alarm Silence IPAP 8 ALARMS 21% Mode/Messages EPAP 3 Alarm Reset Rate 12 SB Pt Data Display Area options Monitoring Fz/ UnFz Scale Parameters Alarms Mode

  15. To change settings, press Parameters – then soft key next to parameter and adjust with knob. Soft keys Knob

  16. Can set Parameters while in Stand-by

  17. Stand-by Mode • Can set parameters and alarms while in SB • Bumping the circuit may simulate pt inspiration, in which case Vision exits SB automatically and goes into ventilation mode.

  18. 2 3 1 To change Mode, press Mode, then parameter soft key to adjust, and then “Activate New Mode” soft key

  21. Cannot adjust Parameters when Monitoring displayed

  22. IPAP Rise Time Timed Inspiration

  23. Can Change Bar Graphs to Waveforms with “Options” soft key
