UNIVERSITY ACCEPTANCELOCAL UNIVERSITIES • STUDNETS WHO GRADUATE FROM 7th CPP are accepted to any Local university at the FRESHMAN LEVEL (SCIENCES OR ARTS) • UPON COMPLETION OF THIS CLASS, THEY WILL BE ACCEPTED TO THE SOPHOMORE CLASS TO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MAJORS: From Freshman Arts From Freshman Sciences FAS OSB FM FAFS FHS FEA FAS (Arts majors only) OSB FM FAFS FHS FEA – (graphic Design only)

  4. Course Coefficients and Promotion RequirementsA General end of year average of 70 is required for promotion to grade 12

  5. *Students can choose one of art or music. Students are promoted to Grade 12 CPP if they: • Obtain a general average of 70 and above • Meet the above minimum requirements • Fulfill a social service requirement of 30 hours

  6. SUPPORT SERVICES : • Psychological Support: The class advisor and school psychologist are available to guarantee the necessary support. If the student suffers from any specific adjustment difficulty, the school psychologist is available for support and regular follow up. She will be in constant communication with the class advisor* and parents. *CLASS ADVISOR : Mrs. Rita OstaAkiki

  7. b) Academic Support: If your child faces academic difficulties in one or more subjects, reinforcement classes will be offered. His/her advisor or teacher will invite you to a conference to communicate the difficulties and explore possible solutions.C) Medical Support: During the year, if any medical condition arises, the administration, school physician and nurse will be in constant communication with you . If your child suffers from any prolonged medical condition, a medical report is required. All confidential information is kept with the administration. SUPPORT SERVICES (cont.)

How Does IC Prepare its students for University Studies • SAT 1. 5th & 2nde Class: • Atthe beginningof the year, studentssit for a PSAT exam • English teachers train students for their SAT (1 period per week) 2. 6th & 1ère class: • IC in collaboration with AMIDEAST organizesSAT sessions in English and Math during the year • English teacherstrains students for their SAT (1 period per week) 3. Graduating Classes • English teachers train students for their SAT (1 period per week)

Career Guidance • Mrs. Mona Shbaklo, Dean of Students, is responsible for orienting students towards local universities (AUB, LAU, USJ….). Through out the year, guest speakers are invited fromvarious majors at these universities to give an orientation session about the majors concerned. • Mrs. Randa Soubeih, ForeignColleges’ Counselor, is responsible for orienting students towards foreign English speaking universities. She arranges for meetings with speakers from these universities. These orientation sessions are announced on our IC website.

  11. IMPORTANT DATES Academic year 2013-2014 A. EXAMS & GRADE REPORTING November 20 : First progress report November 26 : Parent–Teacher meeting January 20-24: Semester I examinations (Mid-Year Exams) February 11 : Semester 1 report April 16: Second progress report (Tentative date) June 23-27: Semester 2 examinations (Final exams) July 4 : Annual Report Sheets Semester I September 2013 – February 2014 Ends with the Mid Year cumulative exams Semester II February 2014 – June 2014 Ends with the Final Year cumulative exams

  12. Admission at AUB at the Freshman Level • Academic qualifications for admission SAT I scores and average of grades 10 and 11 producing a composite score 2. Personal qualifications (new) Personal statement and recommendations from two teachers and school counselor 3. SAT II exams are required for equivalency of the Freshman year with the Lebanese Baccalaureate, can be taken either during grade 12 or during the Freshman year
