  10. FRGS • Research must address: • HOW things happen? WHY does it happen? • According to existing guidelines • Grant ceiling: RM 250K? per project • Duration: 2-3 years

  11. ERGS • FALSAFAH • Sebagai sebuah negara yang beraspirasi untuk menjadi negara maju, Malaysia perlu menyuburkan budaya penyelidikan. Skim Geran Penyelidikan Eksploratori (ERGS) dapat menggalakkan penyelidikan awal atau penerokaan ilmu yang mampu menjana/memantapkan ilmu yang boleh menyumbang terhadap peningkatan tahap intelektual, penciptaan teknologi baru dan penyuburan budaya yang dinamik selaras dengan aspirasi negara.

  17. LRGS LRGS supports fundamental researches that require deeper commitment, more extensive scope and longer duration Grant ceiling: RM 3 million Duration: 3-5 years 2 modes: Top-Down & Bottoms-Up

LRGS • Area/ Field • i) Top-down (Led by RU) • LRGS promotes excellence in research and development, especially cutting edge areain the 7 high impact niches. • Global Warming • Infectious Disease • Tropical Medicine • Energy and Water Security • Food Security • Advance Manufacturing and Value added • ICT ii) Bottoms-Up (Can be led by non-RU) Non-RU can identify their strength and strategic niche areas (other than the 7 high impact niches) that they can lead.

LRGS • Characteristic • The project has to be multi-disciplinary • The work must includes the corpus of knowledge in Science & Technology and Social Sciences & Humanity • Project have to involve a minimum of 3 institutions • Note on LRGS application: • Send in a concept paper of about 5 pages for evaluation. • If accepted, send in full proposal (fill in forms)
