Don’t you wish to be notified for breaking news, emergencies, or national and weather alerts? Don’t you ever wish not having to run to a news stand for papers on your already busy mornings? Don’t you wish you can choose only the news you care about and jump to the articles of your interests without flipping through the oily pages and get your hands all dirty? Manually update news whenever you want Keyword search for articles and headlines Choose only news categories that you want to read BREW Development Experience: Reflections & Afterthoughts Change frequency of news updates One problem area we encountered was with finding a mobile news service provider. You may be able to write the best mobile news application, but it won’t be successful without a good news provider. Currently, there are few major news providers that deliver news in a format that can be easily interpreted by mobile devices. Mobile news services are a new and develop-ing field with exciting possibilities. Developing with the BREW API has been our pleasure. With further develop-ment and better docum-entation, we believe BREW is on its way to becoming the platform for mobile phones. As more developers begin to support the platform, we are excited to see what else is possible with BREW. The BREW Solution: The News Stories You Want on Your Cellular Phone • Cool features and simple user interface get two thumbs up. • Get notified only when news you care about occurs • Alert method depends on user priority settings for each news category • Easily search for articles by headlines or keywords • E-mail articles from your cellular phone to yourself or your friends • Manually or automat-ically check for current news NewsAlert – the newspaper for the next generation Acknowledgements John Canny Professor, UC Berkeley Dan Greening, Ph.D.CEO, Big Tribe Developers: Seema Moorjani Ting Ting Liu Jesse Suen
