Note Independent Events • Consider 2 events: • Drawing a RED card from a deck of cards • Drawing a HEART from a deck of cards Are these two events considered to be independent? If two events, A and B are independent, then P(A|B) = P(A) P(Red) = 26/52 = 1/2 P(Red|Heart) = 13/13 = 1 Therefore these are NOT independent events!
