  1. Vineyards of Akiva

  2. Our sages said: « one of the ills of our people is to work in others' vineyards», which means being absorbed by alien religious and cultural traditions

  3. We decided to bring our young peopleto«our vineyards»! A famous sage Rabbi Akiva will be our role model.

  4. For whom we wantto do it? Beit-Midrash is intended for Jewish youth involved in activities of RJYC. Its audience may include  university and senior school students,  university graduates , interested in Jewish classical texts, Jewish history, culture and civilization.

  5. Whatwe aregoing to do? We are going to study :  Tanach,  Bible commentaries,  Texts from the Talmud, Midrash and Rabbinic literature. Our slogan is: “Back to the sources!” We believe that these texts are a veritable treasury of wisdom, we want to return this part of Jewish heritage to its rightful owners - the present generation. We will actively encourage our students to read texts in the original, but, basically, we will work with Russian translations, using both existing and specially prepared new translations

  6. Howwe are goingto do it? Interesting and fascinating! Our main goal is to return the classic texts “from museum to library”, that is to make them readable. We want to make the Tanach, Talmud and commentaries a part of the cultural life of our youth, convince them that the analysis of these books is one of the most fascinating intellectual activities.

  7. Howwe are goingto do it? We are going to apply latest information technologies, Web - seminars and video - conferences. However, the central figure in the Jewish educational process was and remains a Teacher, a person who knows the job perfectly and who can light up hearts of the listeners. We will invite the best lecturers and leading experts from biggest universities in Russia.

  8. Wherewe are goingto do it? In all regional offices of RJYC. We are going to organize travelling seminars in Russian cities and thematic conferences in Moscow. Specific places and time periods may be defined during operational planning.

  9. When we are goingto do it? Yesterday! The need for such project has long been ripe so the sooner the work will start the better.
