What are its most notable investigations? • Bettencourt Case- June 2010 • In June 2010, Mediapart revealed the existence and content of clandestine recordings from 2009 and 2010 at Liliane Bettencourt's home by her butler, showing relationships hitherto unknown between her and Éric Woerth (then Labour minister), President Nicolas Sarkozy and other ministers, triggering the Woerth-Bettencourt case. • Bettencourt is accused of tax evasion and of having 30 million euros in tax rebate with Woerth was budget minister (while campaigning against tax evasion). • Few months later President Sarkozy and Woerth were also accused of abusing old Bettencourrt’s weakness to regularly get money from her; Woerth would have gotten 150 00 euros in cash for the presidential campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007.
What are its most notable investigations? • The Kadhafi case - APRIL 28, 2012 • Media reveal that they are in possession of two documents suggesting the existence of a payment of 50 million euros by the Libyan regime to finance the presidential campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007. • One of the documents published is an agreement, all in Arabic, "on the amount and methods of payment" • President Nicolas Sarkozy announced Monday (April 30th) that he will prosecute against the newspaper "Mediapart" for publishing the news that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi contributed to fund his campaign in 2007. • November 2015, an expert authenticates the document which mentions a donation of 50 million euros of Khadafi for the campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007 and six months later, the court issued a dismissal order to the benefit of Mediapart.
