Ancestor: a person from whom you are descended. • Pedigree Chart: a document that records your ancestors. • Genealogy: the research and study of family history/ancestors. • Generation: a family group representing a single step to an ancestor. • Archive: a place where public records or historical documents are kept. • Census: the numbering & collecting of information about our population by the government.   4. When? – Every 10 years • How? – By households • 1st Census: 1790 • The 1890 Census burned in Washington DC • The latest census we can see and study is 1930 Census
