  1. StudiDroid – Summer 2009 Sean Austin,DianaMazzola and James Kolb

  2. Early Difficulties • Beacon  A identical application just released https://www.mobiledefense.com/ • SwipeLock++  Android OS does not support overwrite of the Android Lock Screen • So what did we begin working on in the beginning of summer?

  3. Studidroid Beta! • Worked to make up lost time • Released Beta in beginning of summer • Delete user, lists all users to ease deletion process • Improve some bugs • Reduced size of images • Released to blog and google code in the beginning of June

  4. Current Project • Complete overhaul of StudiDroid • Keep core functionality, but add many useful features • Great idea Text to Speech, suggested by Prof. Moorthy • Import ability • Interface overhaul • Math & Symbol Integration!

  5. New Features • Interface redesign, minimize size, improve look. Tab’s, embedded activities. • Symbol Integration, have been working for the last month on popular list of symbols, custom edit field and smooth input of these 50 plus symbols. • Text to Speech  Eyes-Free project • Import/E-mail capability

  6. Flash Card Online Database • Quickly enter full “stacks” of cards. • Share cards with public to relieve the strain from individuals. • There are many pre existing websites that host many cards on many different subjects • We have begun searching for most popular formats of flash card data and will use that format to import

  7. Card Sharing E-Mail Difficulty • Due to lack of attachment support by the android phone using E-Mail as a sharing tool may not be worthwhile • Other options team is looking into: • Use of plain text E-mails where program deciphers text into separate cards • Use of MMS (Multimedia Messages) to send card data to and from android phones

  8. Text to Speech Functionality • Main focus is ease of access for disabled users • Single button progress through question and answer of card

  9. Speech to Text Functionality • Adds full access for disabled users • Adds ability to dictate cards rather than use keyboard for all users • Because of difficulty implementing this functionality it is at the end of our list of goals

  10. Summer Goal • Implement these important features to application • Will have features that no other flashcard application for any mobile device has • Refine and release to Marketplace for Fall 2009 • Promote RCOS with a successful App launch!
