Today’s lesson….… • How to differentiate between incorrect data and correct data • How to set parameters when asking for data • What do you do when data you are given is wrong and you make a presentation with it in front of 100 colleagues
A look to the past; what did we ask for? 1. How many classes were offered? 2. How many classes were cancelled due to low enrollments? 3. What was the highest enrollment class? 4. What was the lowest enrollment class? 5. What was the average enrollment per department? 6. What was the average enrollment per school? 7. What was the average enrollment per class across the university? 8. Does summer enrollment affect spring and fall enrollment?

Lessons learned….. • It’s hard to capture true numbers when there are 4 summer start dates and 4 census dates. • It’s difficult to capture true numbers when classes are cross-listed. • It’s REALLY hard to capture a class enrollment when it is jointly run with another university • (UCD and MSU’s Physics Department)
