  2. definition A connector is a word that is used to join words or sentences.

  3. What do sentence connectors do? • They allow you to combine two separate sentences. • They make your writing flow more smoothly.

  4. Examples and Or but Coordinating conjunctions join together clauses of equal importance. Coordinating conjunctions

  5. Examples of how to use connectors

  6. and • is used as a conjunction when the words are of equal importance. A boy and a girl

  7. Tom and Mary play basketball • A lion and a fox live in this cave • English and Math are both important.

  8. but • is used to show a contradiction between two phrases. He ran but he missed the bus.

  9. She studied hard but could not score well in the test. • The hill was very high but the man could climb it easily.

  10. or • we use ‘or’ when we need to express a choice between two words or phrases. Happy or sad

  11. Would you take a cup of tea or coffee? • Sit on the chair or on the table.

  12. because • we use ‘because’ to show why something happened. The baby cried because he was sick
