Mission Statement We come to Olmsted Physical Education to exercise, stay healthy, and have fun! To be successful in the gym we must cooperate with one another, listen and follow directions, try our best, and be respectful.
Strategic Learning Goal By the end of the 2014-15 school year, all 5th grade students will meet or exceed the 50th percentile in the Mile Run Presidential Physical Fitness Test.
Plan • I can perform the Mile Run physical fitness test at the national average • I can perform Sit-ups at the national average • I can perform Sit & Reach at the national average • I can perform Pull-ups at the national average • I can identify the four components of physical fitness (aerobic endurance, strength, flexibility, muscular endurance)
Do Teacher Will: • Administer physical fitness tests • Monitor and record test results • Help students create an understanding of the fitness components and their relevance to the fitness tests Students Will: • Perform fitness tests to the best of their ability • Complete fitness component assessment
Study What helped us learn? (Plus)+ • Outside of school activities (soccer, softball, baseball) • Summer sport camps •Stretching/Warm-ups during PE (Delta)- •“Couch Potato” over summer/inactivity •Poor diet •Video games/tv
Act What will we do next time? Teacher Will: • Offer fitness choices • Provide upper body strength exercises in PE Students Will: • Try their best during PE warm-ups • Participate in Roadrunners to improve overall fitness • Use PFA Fitness Equipment to improve muscular strength
