  2. What is love? • Complete trust in someone else • An eternal bond • The capability for two people to understand and accept each others weaknesses

  3. Brett • Physical relationships that always seem shallow and translucent • Can not stand to be alone • Surrounds herself with many men • Not able to restrict her self to one relationship, lacks commitment • Doesn’t know what she wants

  4. “When I think of the hell I’ve put chaps through. I’m paying for it all now.” • Since Brett engages in multiple relationships and does not commit to one man, she puts the men through hell. She cannot find love and happiness and this is her repercussion.

  5. Jake • Wants to love but continually backs out because he doesn’t want to suffer anymore • His impotence restricts him • He is in love with Brett but there is no future in their relationship due to his injury • Powerless -> inability to love

  6. “She looked up to be kissed. She touched me with one hand and I put her hand away.”-”Never mind.”-”What’s the matter? You sick?”-”Yes.” • Jake’s injury prevents him from finding love and engaging in sexual relations with women.

  7. Robert • Doesn’t seem to know what he really wants. • He throws the word love around carelessly and believes that any woman who is willing to show interest is in love.

  8. “He was married by the first girl who was nice to him. Also he was sure that he loved her.”
