Dean Schneider • Inventor of cooperative education • Believed that engineers not only need the practical experience (co-op), but also an appreciation of the fine arts, not as something remote and rarefied but as a part of their daily experience.  • The murals reflect the civil and industrial life in Cincinnati and show its river front, woodlands, bridges and buildings.

  6. Did you know? • In January of 1920, when there was a fire in the roof of Baldwin, engineering students carried art works with them as they “marched single-file into the winter air of the quadrangle.” Fact: In 1920, women were first admitted to the College of Engineering at UC.
