  2. What? • In this project you’ll have to find out facts about the human body by doing math problems. Enjoy!

  3. Skeleton Subtraction

  4. Spine Vertebra is the name of each individual bone in the spine. Do the subtraction problem 2321-2288 to find out how many vertebra are in the spine. Answer: 33

  5. Teeth Children have 20 teeth in their mouth at first. By the time you’re an adult you have 32 teeth. How many teeth does a child lose before fully growing their 32 teeth? Answer: 20 teeth

  6. Skull Solve the following question to find out how many bones are fused together to form the skull: 168-146. Answer: 22 fused bones

  7. Digestion Division

  8. Stomach To find out how many minutes food stays in the stomach on average do the following problem: 3240 ÷9. Answer: 360 minutes

  9. Stomach You just figured out that food normally stays in the stomach for about 360 minutes. How many hours is this? Answer:6 hours

  10. Intestines The intestines have villi which stores food for energy. Solve the following problem to figure out how many villi are in the body: 14,000,000 ÷ 7. Answer: 2,000,000 villi

  11. Artery Addition

  12. Heart The average weight of the male heart is 300 grams. The average weight of the female heart is 250 grams. If there was a line of 16 people, half of them men and half of them women, how much would all their hearts weight be together? Answer: 4400 grams

  13. Blood The human body has an average of about 10.5 pints of blood. If 6 people were standing next to each other, how much blood would they have total? Answer: 63 pints

  14. Blood Blood makes up approximately 1/14 of your weight. This would make sense because every organ in your body needs blood to operate .This is why your heart is considered one of the most important organs in your body. How do you think you would calculate how much blood is your body? Answer: Your Weight Divided by 14

  16. Brain Weight The brain weighs about 1400 grams. Solve the following problem to figure out much weight the brain loses when you squeeze all the water out of it: 1400-283. Answer: 1117 grams

  17. Dreams Dreams are experienced almost every day. Solve the following problem to figure out how many dreams the average person has: 2,489,723 - 2,389,723. Answer: 100,000

  18. Message Speed Your brain sends messages to your body which tells it to do things (makes heart beat, allows you to move, lets you talk, etc.). Solve the following problem to figure out how many miles per hour these messages are sent: 4,382-4232. Brain Messages Co. Answer: 150 mph From: Brain To: Body
