  3. 7TH TO 8TH GRADE PROMOTION • LANGUAGE ARTS (2 CREDITS) • MATH • SCIENCE • SOCIAL STUDIES • PHYSICAL EDUCATION

TWO OPTIONS TO MAKE-UP FAILURES ONLINE • Tuition is Free • Register online www.gilbertschools.net go to“Summer School” • Failure Letter to Parents for Information At A School Site • Tuition is $160 per course, (L.A. Block is $320) • Gilbert High School • June 2- June 26, 2014 • Classes meet Monday-Thursday AM or PM or Both • Transportation not provided • Online Registration starts March 3rd

Choosing your classes … • TODAY you will receive your purple course card and description of Electives for 8th Grade. • February 28th- Cards are due back to your Language Arts Teacher. • Four classes require applications that need to be completed and handed into Mrs. Proft. Teacher recommendations given to teachers, and they will hand in to ME. • Lots of info… LISTEN CAREFULLY! 

  7. PRINT NAME AND ID Check if you will be attending 8th Grade √ HAND IN CARD EVEN THOUGH YOU Will BE MOVING or attending another school!

  8. Check √ the box if the address label is correct. If the address is NOT correct, write the correct address on the back of card and check √

  9. Your current teachers will place you in the right classes. • Honors 8 ONLY if currently in Honors. • Honors testing is May 12th

  10. How Can I be in English in 8th Grade? • You will take a Reading Proficiency Test in your current Language Arts class in April. • Based on that test score, you will be placed in either a 2-period LA block, OR a 1-period English class. • We will NOT know your placement until you return in August.

  11. ELECTIVES • You may have the opportunity to have 2 electives in your schedule next year. • Choose the equivalent of 5 class periods • Choose ‘back-up’s” • LETS LOOK AT THE ELECTIVES NOW and ASK QUESTIONS 

  12. Special Instructions for Electives • Pay attention to “pre-requisites”. • Some electives require an “application”. Get one today, complete it and return to Mrs. Proft • “Signature Days”: You have to turn in your card on: Friday February 28th

  13. Why Should I Choose My Electives Wisely? • Students are not guaranteed elective choices, however, most students receive their 1st, 2nd or 3rd Elective choices. • We can not honor schedule change requests in the Fall.

  14. When Is My Registration Card Due? • Friday February 28th • Turn them into your Language Arts Teacher • Late cards or no cards WILL impact your elective choices.
