CEEV - About Us • Representative body of the EU Industry and Trade in Wines, with a membership of 23 national associations – high percentage of SMEs • Still wines, sparkling wines, aromatised wines, liqueur wines and other vine products across the EU • Our companies produce and sell the large majority of wines in Europe, with or without GIs • More than 90% of European wine exports

Commission Report • WE WELCOME THE REPORT • UNCERTAINTY: puts an end to it, for the time being • INTERNAL MARKET: would stop Member States proceedings that could jeopardised the functioning of the Single Market • SPECIFICITY of WINE: somehow it acknowledgesit • ADAPTED SOLUTION: opens the door to identifying a solution that will fulfil EU consumer expectations while better fitting wine's unique nature REPORT on MADATORY LABELLING of THE LIST OF INGREDIENTS and THE NUTRITIONAL DECLARATION of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

Our Commitment OUR COMMITMENT Give tailored and meaningful information – be relevant to consumers • Including information on responsible consumption • System adapted to wine and to wine sector's structure • Exploring innovative developments as an alternative to label-based systems ( e-label ). Wine working together with other sectors – ready for March 2018

  5. Wine’s Solution Sector mainly composed of SMEs Naturally changing – no pre established “recipe” Most regulated food product WINE AD HOC SOLUTION EU harmonized system Recognize opportunity of off-label system ( “e- label” )

Wine’s Solution Nutritional Information Ingredients Legal uncertainties as to what should be considered as an ingredient Fundamental to take into consideration OIV achieved and ongoing works Oenological practices: Positive list of products • Energy Value – most relevant • Average value of the specific wine, or on the basis of the typical value of a wine belonging to the same category? • Energy value could also be communicated on the basis of alcohol unit (10g) or serving size
