  1. Gate Exam Marking Scheme: Understanding the Grading System of GATE Exam! The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance exam that is conducted annually for admission to various postgraduate courses in engineering, technology, and architecture in India. The exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis. To prepare for the GATE exam, it is essential to understand the marking scheme. The GATE exam is a computer-based test (CBT), and it consists of two types of questions: multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. For MCQs, each question carries 1 or 2 marks. There is negative marking for incorrect answers in MCQs carrying 1 mark, and for every wrong answer, 1/3 of the total marks assigned to the question will be deducted. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in MCQs carrying 2 marks. For NAT questions, each question carries 1 or 2 marks, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The GATE exam is conducted for a total of 100 marks, and the total number of questions varies depending on the paper. The exam duration is three hours, and the question paper is divided into three sections: General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and the core subject of the paper.
