  1. IFAX Service of ENUM • Objective • Registering IFAX service of ENUM with IANA • Functional Specification of IFAX service is different from email service, PSTN-fax service and T.38 fax service.

Functional Specification • DSN query • with the target system’s telephone number • Returned NAPTR record • specifies an email address that is to be used for reaching the target system • The email address is then used • in accordance with “Simple Mode” RFC2305, “Extended Mode” RFC2532 or FFPIM.

  3. Definition of NAPTR record • Service Name “ifax” • Protocol smtp • URI scheme “mailto” • Intended Usage COMMON • Example $ORIGIN 4.3.2.1.6.7.9.8.6.4 e164.arpa IN NAPTR 10 10 “u” “E2U+ifax:smtp” “!^.*$!mailto:toyo@ifax.net!”
