  3. gathering • A coming together of people We had a family gathering to celebrate my grandfather’s birthday.

  4. needles • Small thin tool used for sewing Grandma used a needle and thread to fix the rip in my coat.

  5. scraps • Leftover bits of cloth Sue had some scraps left after she sewed the yellow flowered shirt.

  6. sewn • Fastened with stitches, using a needle and thread After the ladies had sewn the quilt they gave it to their friend for a birthday present.

  7. threaded • Passed thread through the eye of a needle I threaded the needle with blue thread so now I am ready to sew.
