In Groups • You will fill out the magnet word Confucianism: pg 82-83 Legalism: pg 83-85 Daoism: pg 85 • After you are finished your magnet words, you will work on your paragraphs that compare Confucianism and Daoism.
Lesson 3 Dynasties
Shape of the Day • Terracotta Warriors • What is a dynasty? • Match the accomplishment to the dynasty • Dynasty charts • How do ancient dynasties relate to modern day China?
What is a dynasty? • A consecutive series of monarchs from the same family lineage. They preserve power and authority for long periods of time.
Exploring Dynasties • Shang: Modern writing can be traced back to the first writing during the Shang dynasty • Zhou: Large scale irrigation systems, introduced iron for agricultural tools and weapons, and introduced the use of money. • Qin: First construction of the Great Wall of China • Han: The Silk Road construction and connection to the Western world. • Sui: The Grand Canal connecting: Huang He river, Chang Jiang River and Hangzhou on the coast.
In Groups • You will receive a piece of chart paper • You and you group will read the pages the correspond to your designated dynasty (provided by Ms. B) • You will have 15-20 minutes to record all the information about the dynasty you have been assigned • After ~20 mins, you will take your chart handout and rotate stations to record ideas on each dynasty.
