  12. Grants • The more you do the luckier you become! • Sometimes it is the luck of the draw • Need to match your proposed plan to the needs of the grant provider • Your grant will be scored against a score-chart • Sport England now online

Step by Step Guide • Assess the needs within the club; you need to know what you are applying for in the first place. • Identify the most suitable grant, a list of potential grant providers is listed in the RFL Funding Guide available at www.therfl.co.uk/community • Research the Grants website to find out what their objectives are. • Get the application form

Step by Step guide cont.. • Outline a basic project plan and costing model • Clearly identify how your proposed programme meets the needs of that particular grant • Seek guidance from local Rugby League Development Officer or local authority sports development unit (lots have specific funding officers) • Submit applications and if unsuccessful keep on trying and seek feedback as to why bid was unsuccessful.

  15. Step by Step guide cont.. • Once successful deliver the outlined scheme in the plan accordingly. • Collect all publicity, necessary accounts; receipts etc. and once completed submit a final report back to the funding body to show how the grant has benefited your club.
