  2. Homework Turn-in • Take out “Ellis Island” TP-FASTT, staple it on top of the close reading packet for “Europe and America” • Place in the center of your table

  3. Warmup • Looking at your list of adjectives describing America, pick the one to which you most closely subscribe, explain your position, and provide examples that support your perspective

  4. Content Language Objective • Students will use the TP-FASTT method to analyze 3 different poems with similar subjects to determine their relative themes, perspectives, and attitudes (tone) relative to America and the “American Dream”

  5. TP-FASTT • Collaboratively analyze the poems “America, the Beautiful,” “America,” and “Shine On, Perishing Republic.”
