Order Entry – micro test? Version 4.0 – controlled by hosparambacti_dept “MIC” Version 4.5 – controlled in Department setup file:
Test setup – Codes (Version 4.5) Default Source = MSRC Code Source Cat = MSC code
SETUP • Essential Files
Although SoftMic resides IN SoftLab, we are • structured as a “free-text” module, not “templated”. • Micro belongs to SoftLab… • we are separated at the Department level. • Micro usually does not have many Workstations… • we separate our work thru Worklists.
Version 4.0 – Specimen Tube Types • Version 4.5 - Containers • Micro usually does not have many Specimen Tube Types… • for the simple reason that you can only attach one • Tube Type to any Test.
Version 4.0 – Test Maintenance • Version 4.5 - Tests • Similar to Lab setup, but much simpler…micro also • needs an attachment to Source.
Micro Media is an interesting file, as it not only defines • the agar plates/tubes used in any microbiology dept., • but it can also be used to define vehicles for Billing, • Workload stats, and a way to move Orders from one • Worklist to another.
Specimen Procedures are use to group Media, and • sometimes “add-on” Tests, to the Test in an Order • thru the Source. • Tests that do not require Media, will have a “blank” • Procedure.
Sources defined in SoftMic must match, what is • coming thru the HIS interface, exactly. • Sources will pull keypads that contain Site information.
Processes are a utility that allows the system to • address Media requirements for Tests that can • use Sources, already pulling specific Media.
Version 4.0 – Rules contained in the Drugs setup file • Version 4.5 – Rules is a separate setup file • Drug (antibiotic) IDs need to match the instrument • being used in the microbiology dept.: Vitek, • MicroScan, or Phoenix. • Rules can be written allowing or suppressing the • results on the patient record. Other rules can also • be written.
