  3. Early life • Parents were Jessie and Hudla • Siblings were Theodore and May • Dad Died 1880 • Mom Died 1883 • Orphan at age of 9 • Dad was a blacksmith • Mom was a seamstress and a Quaker minister • Herbert went to Stanford University

  4. Family life • Herbert married Lou Henry • Had 2 sons Herbert .Jr and Allen • The Hoovers were caught in the Boxer Rebellion
