Prism • A prism is a shape that can lay on this side long ways or up ways that doesn't have a apex. • Every prism has straight long face. • A polygon is a 2-d shape that forms a prism.
Pyramids • A pyramid has a apex that is a the top of the pyramid. • The pyramid has a polygon as a bottom. • The pyramids are named by their base.
The shapes of pyramids and prism • The shapes that form the different types of prisms and pyramids are eighther 2 shapes or 1 shape. • The also have a form all different. • These prisms and pyramids are 3d shapes.
Pentagonal prism • A pentagonal prism has a pentagon on a face or side of the pentagonal prism. • That forms into a pentagon. • If you cut a pentagon in paper it’s a pentagonal prism. • A pentagonal prism has 15 edges, 10 vertices and 7 faces.
Hexagonal prism • A hexagonal prism is made out of two shapes. • 1. a rectangle witch makes the sides, you need 6. • 2. a hexagon witch is for the base and top, you need 2. • The hexagonal prism has 8 faces, 18 edges and 12 vertices.
Rectangular based pyramid • A rectangular based pyramid has 2 shapes a rectangle and a triangle. • 1. a rectangle has 4 edges, 4 vertices and 2 faces. • 2. a triangle has 3 edges, 3 vertices and 2 faces. • If you put them together you get a rectangular based pyramid that has 8 edges, 5 vertices and 5 faces.
Square base pyramid • A square based pyramid is formed by the square underneath the for triangles that are connected to the square underneath. • A square based pyramid has 7 edges, 5 vertices and 5 faces.
