  1. Renters Insurance -Cover your liabilities as a tenant

  2. What is Renters Insurance? • Renters insurance, or HO-4 insurance, protects renters from unexpected financial burdens due to perils like theft, fire, lawsuits and more.  •  You can purchase a standard renters policy, or you can tailor your policy according to your needs.

  3. Renters Insurance vs. Condo Insurance • Condo insurance is for people that own their unit. Renters insurance is for people who are living in the unit, but do not own it.  • Renters insurance will not cover for damages to the dwelling. Since condo owners own the unit itself, their insurance has dwelling coverage.

  4. Why do you Need Renters Insurance?  • Your landlord will not provide compensation if you face a loss. • Renters insurance will cover your personal belongings as well as your liabilties.

  5. What Does Renters Insurance Cover? The three key components of renters insurance coverage are: • Personal Property: -While your dwelling isn’t covered, your belongings and possessions are covered from theft, riot, fire, falling objects, etc. -Renters property coverage will cover your property even if it is stored away from home.  -Moreover, other people’s items in your home are also covered.

  6. What Does Renters Insurance Cover? • Liability Coverage: -Renters liability insurance will cover the expenses of your guests if they suffer injuries in your home. -This coverage covers the cost of their medical and legal bills. • Additional Living Expenses: -If something makes your home uninhabitable, then your expenses for living temporarily away from home will be covered by your renters insurance coverage.  - Your hotel bills, meals, temporary rentals, and such are covered under your insurance coverage.

  7. Reimbursement Options • You get to choose between two reimbursement options: actual cash value and replacement cost coverage. •  An actual cash value policy will reimburse you the exact amount of cash you paid for your belongings. •  Replacement cost coverage will replace the exact item that was damaged.

  8. What is not covered by Renters Insurance? • Property damage • Pests • Property of your non-related roommates and undocumented items • Car damage • Flood • Earthquake
