Mandate & Methods • As Christians, our faith is missional and global faith. • Our leadership should be a missional, global leadership. • Leadership = influence • We are to be people of influence to the whole world, ultimately pointing them to Jesus Christ.
Mandate & Methods • This mandate does not change. • However, the methodswill change. • The Bible is full of examples of missional contextualization: changing the methods to fit the particular cultural context. • Servant leadership demands that we discover what methods will best serve & reach followers in their context.
Mandate & Methods • We can sometimes “baptize” methodology, sometimes even at the expense of the mandate (or it takes a back seat). • My prayer is that this course will help you understand how to contextualize methodology without sacrificing or short-changing our mandate.
Mandate & Methods • The first discussion this week will explore intentional servanthood; the second will challenge you to develop a biblical framework (mandate) to filter contemporary leadership issues (method).
