  3. Operation Graduation • What is required to graduate from HHS? • What options do I have after high school and how do I prepare now?

  4. Are you on track to graduate with your class? • Juniors you should currently have 15 credits earned at this point (18 by end of year) • You should earn 6 credits each year (24 total) • You must also have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. • You must pass required state assessments. • 10th Grade FSA Reading (or ACT/SAT score) • Algebra 1 EOC (or PERT test score)

Graduation Course Requirement: 24 Credit Standard Diploma English 4.0 Math – (Algebra 1*, Geometry*) 4.0 Science (Biology*) 3.0 Social Studies(World Hist., US Hist.**, US Govt/Econ) 3.0HOPE (Health and Physical Education) 1.0 Fine/Performing Arts 1.0 Electives 8.0 One online course – FLVS Placeholder? Total Credits24.0

  6. ACT or SAT? That is the question… • ACT Reading score of 19 or higher will fulfill your reading requirement (No more intensive reading! ) • SAT subject area reading must be 430 or higher • Most Florida colleges & universities accept either test, not required for PHSC

  7. Credit Recovery Options • APEX Rules & Regulations • No more than 3 “F” in most recent quarter • ESD/Adult ED/Summer School (must show effort to be approved) • Must complete ½ credit per semester to remain in APEX • While in APEX, must be passing all other courses • Summer School • To be considered for APEX next year, you must be in summer school making up at least ½ credit this summer. • FLVS or Pasco Eschool Course • Can take up to 3 courses during summer • Discuss with your counselor to determine if these strategy would benefit you going into your senior year. • Adult Education/Extended School Day • May be option during Semester 2 of next year.

  8. FLVS/E-School Placeholder • Attendance is MANDATORY • Must finish ½ credit per semester • Progress will be tracked weekly, if lack of progress is noticed you will be moved to regular classroom OR

  9. Bright Futures / ACT & SAT Dates ”Community Service” Hours – Must be preapproved by School Counselor or College & Career Counselor. Regulations are now more strict on what is acceptable. Review Flyer with Testing Dates

Dual Enrollment • * Must have 3.0 Unweighted GPA • PERT Test Scores: • 103 on Reading section • 106 on Writing section • 114 on Math section • If you are planning to DE next year and have NOT passed the PERT yet, you will be a GPA Report (from counselor) and an Application in order to attempt the PERT through PHSC.

  11. Options After High School • Community College– Earn a 2 year Associates Degree. Once complete you are guaranteed admission to a State University. • State University- 4 year degree or higher • You must take the SAT and/or ACT • Standard 24 credit diploma or 18 credit with 2 credits in the same foreign language • Take Honors, AP, or Dual Enrollment to help and be competitive for University Admission http://www.flbog.edu/forstudents.planning

  12. Options After High School: • Enter into the workforce: Post Secondary education is directly tied to earned income. • Join the Military. Most branches require HS Diploma and all require taking the ASVAB (Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery) • Vocational/ Technical School. 12 – 18 months of school earning a certificate for a specific job such as Air Condition Repair, Mechanic, Cosmetologist)

  13. Prom/Homecoming • Must be “on track”
