How do we decide which pathway is suitable for you? • Look at KS2 starting points in both Maths and English • Look at the progress made so far during KS3 across subjects. • Look at your ability in the EBACC subjects, in particular MFL, History and Geography. • Look at effort grades within subjects to date and use as an indicator of application and focus within the subject. • Look at the individual needs of each pupil. • Have conversations with your teachers about your suitability for certain subjects. • Using the information above, myself and Mr Crompton then make a decision on every child's most suitable pathway.
Considerations • German is only for pupils who currently study German. • Spanish is only for pupils who currently study Spanish. • You can only choose one Technology subject (Design Technology GCSE or BTEC Construction) • You can only choose one Music course (Music GCSE or Music BTEC) • You can only choose Art or Photography. You cannot choose both subjects. • GCSE PE is only recommended for pupils in Set 1and who represent School in a sport. There is more theory than practical work; this is a change in this subject area. The PE staff will make the final decision about your suitability. • You need to be in Set 3 or above for Mathematics to choose Computing GCSE. The Mathematics and Computing staff will make the final decision about your suitability. • We strongly advise you to choose a practical subject to balance out your non-practical choices.

Remember • Discuss with teachers and parents. • Seek advice and choose carefully! • Be sure it’s the right decision. It won’t be easy to change afterwards! • Think about the subjects that you are doing really well in and enjoy
