No Disassembly Required! The New XJG-TB Rigid Conduit Expansion Coupling
Application An expansion coupling allows for the contraction and expansion of a conduit run without reducing the mechanical or bonding integrity of the raceway. Code Application Mechanical 300.7 Raceways Exposed to Different Temperatures. (B) Expansion Fittings. Raceways shall be provided with expansion fittings where necessary to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction. Electrical 250.98 Bonding Loosely Jointed Metal Raceways. Expansion fittings and telescoping sections of metal raceways shall be made electrically continuous by equipment bonding jumpers or other means.
Target Markets • Department of Transportation (DOT), both Municipal and State • Bridges • Subways • Railways • Tunnels • Waste Water Treatment • Chemical Plants • Refineries
1 Slide the fitting onto the conduit until it stops at the internal sliding bushing. Tighten and you’re ready. No parts to reassemble! With a wrench, tighten the gland nut to compress the Teflon packing, creating a rain-tight seal around the conduit. Thread the next length of conduit into the other end of the fitting and tighten. You’re done! 2 3 Key Benefits • Requires NO DISASSEMBLY to install on conduit • No pieces and parts to lose during installation. • Same amount of labor as installing a rigid coupling onto a piece of conduit, greatly reducing installation time and costs.
Key Benefits • The T&B Expansion Fitting comes with a True Internal Bonding Jumper installed in the fitting. • Bonding jumper protected from corrosion and mechanical abuse. • Bonding jumper is tamper-proof. It can't be stolen.
Competition • Other fittings require complete disassembly before they can be installed on the conduit run. • Other fittings require external bonding jumpers. = Higher labor and material costs! Appleton fittings require complete disassembly for installation, and provide no bonding integrity without the use of an external bonding jumper (not shown). Cooper Crouse-Hinds fittings require complete disassembly for installation. Great effort is required to reassemble the parts, usually requiring more than one installer on the larger size conduit diameters.
Innovative Design • No disassembly necessary to install • Fast, simple, and requires fewer steps • True Internal Bonding Jumper – no external grounding strap required • Tamper-proof internal jumper protected from the environment • Exceeds code requirements for long conduit runs to permit linear movement
