  2. What is technology? • Use your own words to define technology • Technology is the application of our knowledge to make objects that meet our needs.

  3. Technology vs. Technical Objects • Technology isn’t just “techno toys” • Technical objects... Give me some examples • A technical object is an object conceived and manufactured by humans to meet the needs of humans.

  4. Quick... • Look around... What would be left in the room if we took away all man made objects? • What did you come up with? • Sitting on the floor • No notes, no paper, not pen • No cell phones, iPod’s • NO clothes!

  5. Medicine • Has medicine ever saved your life? • You wouldn’t be here had it not been invented Fleming - Penicillin

  6. Motion • Flexionis to bend at a joint, or to reduce the angle. • Extension is to straighten at a joint, or to increase the angle, for example, from 90 degrees to 180 degrees

  7. Abductionis movement away from the midline, or to abduct. • Adduction is movement toward the midline, or to add.

  8. Medial Rotationis to turn inward. • Lateral Rotationis to turn outward.

  9. Find 5 objects in the room that have different types of movement. • Sketch the objects and indicate the movement using arrows like the images of the body
