  2. History of Alcohol • Alcohol in early times has played an important role in the daily lives of men. It was used in worship and was also used as a form of antiseptic, nourishment, and medicinal purposes. Early forms of alcohol were created from berries or honey, with various ingredients added to create the beverage.

  3. Types of Alcohol • Wines – made from a variety of fermented fruits. • Beer – a mix of yeast, malted cereal (corn, wheat, barley). • Whisky – made by distilling the juices from fermented cereal grains. • Rum – made by distilling fermented molasses or sugar cane. • Brandy – made from distilled fermented fruit juices. • Gin – a distilled beverage made from a combination of alcohol, water, and various flavors. • Liqueurs – made by adding sugars or flavors to a combination of water and alcohol.

  4. Effects of Alcohol • Makes you feel loose and relaxed. However in doing so it can damage the part of your brain that controls coordination, memory, judgment, and decision making. Drinking may make you feel dumber, you may slur your words, and your reactions can become slower. The more alcohol and the faster you drink it the worse the danger becomes. It can make you do stupid and risky things. Some long term effects of alcohol can include damage to your brain, stomach, liver, kidneys, and muscles. As a teenager due to your still developing body you can do permanent damage to your body.
