UAF Meetings-a retrospective look • UAF I: Held at NSF, notable for its free-for-all exchange of ideas that demonstrated the need for more frequent such get-togethers • UAF II: At Ellicott City, MD, highlighted the need for improved efforts in diversity and education • UAF III: At Berkeley Springs, WV, marked by heated debate over the need for an integrated plan and more well-integrated management of the facilities, inspired by the Avery committee report • UAF IV: ??

UAF External Review Panels • 1996: Meriwether (chair), Mendillo, Fejer, Vondrak, Heelis • Resulted in a list of community expectations for facilities that have been used in establishing review criteria for facility proposals • 2003: Avery (chair), Hagan, Clauer, Taylor, Sahr, Mathews • Recommended better scientific and technical coordination among facilities and the need for an integrated science plan for the UAF program • 2010: ??

  4. Goals of this meeting • To continue the discussions from UAF III on how to better coordinate among facilities. • To discuss the next steps in developing an integrated facility plan. • To address current and future budget stresses. • To discuss other topics as necessary. • Omissions
