LVPS Production Update

This meeting summary discusses the production activities at Argonne National Laboratory for the ATLAS TileCal project, including brick delivery, testing, burn-in, and shipment. It also highlights the use of a web interface tool for monitoring brick quality. Future plans include building more test stands, improving software, and conducting radiation testing.

  1. LVPS Production Update Tim Cundiff, Gary Drake, Tom LeCompte, Jimmy Proudfoot, Duong Nguyen, Michael Oberling, Larry Price, Bob Stanek Argonne National Laboratory ATLAS TileCal Operations Meeting, 12/8/2011

  2. Production Summary • All bricks were delivered to Argonne from the assembly vender last week • Main activity from the last week are the brick checkout • We were working 2 shifts, including weekends • 6 full-time equivalents running test stands -> the bricks were tested quickly before and after the burn in. • We have only one burn-in station -> run all time (3-4 loads per day). • Large amount of bricks were burned in on the last weekend for a big shipment (14 boxes) on Tuesday this week. • Basically, we finish this year production now • Complete the brick checkout on Dec. 7 (yesterday) • 328 bricks have been delivered to CERN (41 boxes)

  3. Testing and Burn-in • Almost all bricks are tested, burned in and repaired/adjusted (98%-100%) • 10% extra are checked out (109.6%)

  4. Shipments • 41 boxes are shipped

  5. Web Interface Tool • Read test result database (in plain text ) and make histograms of test output parameters. • Useful to monitor the brick quality and setting test limits for production. Work done by Wisconsin (Abhirami and Sanish) and Agronne (Sergei, web interface developer)

  6. What next? • Learn from the first batch of production • Build 4th test stand and 2nd burn-in station, improve software. • Order parts for assembly • Radiation testing with proton beam to verify directly the SEU sensitivity to the controller chip.
