  1. BOOK REPORT PROJECT =D LETTERS FROM RIFKA DIANA VASQUEZ Author Karen Hesse Realistic Fiction Publish on 1992

  2. setting The time is 1919-1920 . This time of the setting is important and adds meaning to the story because, that’s when people and mostly Russians didn’t like Jewish. The story takes places from Berdichev to America. The place of the setting adds meaning and is important because, is where the problems happened and the things in the story. TIME PLACE

  3. The symbolic thing in the story is the Pushkin. The book that her cusin Tovah gave to Rifka. Rifka writes the letters to her cusin in this book (Pushkin) and readsthepoemsinsideit.Italso reminds her of her cusin Tovah and makes her feel close to her. Symbolism <3

  4. My recommendation of this book is that is very interesting and good to read, because is the life of a young girl that struggles a lot and has a lot of problems in her life…….. You guys should read it. Recommendation

  5. CHARACTERS This adjectives are good to describe Rifka, because she is brave for staying without her family, talented because she talks good Russian without a Jewish accent and, nice because she is nice to people. • Tall • Dark eyes • Skinny • ADJECTIVES • Helpful • Kind • Faithful • Blond hair • Jewish • Curly hair • ADJECTIVES • Nice • Brave • Talented I picked this adjectives for her, because as i read the story i thought they descibed her. RIFKA HIAS LADY

  6. SUMMARY OF PLOT Rifka is a 12 year old Jewish girl that lives with her family in a regiment in Berdichev. They want to scape and go to America, but they need to be careful, because if the Russian army finds out about there plan to go to America they can kill them. They follow there plan and they get to the train with no problem. When they get to the Polish border they have to get down the train so a doctor can examine them. The doctor is sick and what he has is contagious. She gets sick and slowly the hole family except her brother Saul, they have to wait until they all get better. When they cure they continue there journey . They get to Warsaw to buy there ticket and go to America. Rifka is not allowed to buy a ticket, because the doctor has diagnosed her with ringworm…………………………..

  7. conflict The main conflict in the story is when Rifka gets diagnosed by the doctor that she has ringworm. She is not allowed to buy a ticket to go to America until she cures. I think the tipe of conflict is man vs self and man vs society.

  8. Point of view THE POINT OF VIEW IS THAT THE JEWISH PEOPLE HAD A VERY HARD LIFE. IF THE POINT OF VIEW CHANGES. THE STORY WOULD CHANGE COMPLIITELY, BECAUSE THAT’S KINDA WHAT THE STORY IS ABOUT.

  9. Theme “America” the girl repeated. “What will you do there?”. I was silent for a little time “I will do everything there”, I answered. THEME TRY TO DO WHAT EVER YOU CAN TO ACHIVE YOUR DREAMS.

  10. THANK YOU GUYS FOR PAYING ATTENTION TO MY POWER POINT. I HOPE YOU LIKED IT =D
