Balance • Balance is a principle of design and is the way in which the elements in visual arts are arranged to create a feeling of equilibrium in a work of art. • The three types of balance are symmetry, asymmetry, and radial. • Today we are going to look at radial balance.
How can you achieve good balance in photography? • Balance when composing an image requires the correct combination of colors, shapes, and areas of light and dark that complement each another. • By looking at your subject and capturing it from different viewpoints, angles or even at different lighting, you can compose a balanced image. • Rearranging the elements can also make the image balanced.
Radial balance is any type of balance based on a circle with its design extending from its center.
What examples of radial balance can you think of in art, nature, or life?
A marble, the pupil of your eyes, a wheel with spokes, and a flower can be examples of radial balance.
