  1. You’re a Composer! (Christian Witness)

  2. Your Mission: Create a 16 measure composition for the Christian witness you are studying. You will have class time to complete it and will perform it for everyone.

  3. Teacher Expressions • Don’t forget to use rests. • Your grade is based on your composition not on your performance. You must still strive for excellence in your performance. • Your teacher must review your complete song before you perform it for the class.

  4. 8 Requirements 1. You must have 4 staves with 4 measures each. (16 total) 2. Every staff must have its own trebleclef sign. 3. Every measure must have 4 beats. 4. Write the time signature correctly at the beginning of the staff.

  5. 8 Requirements (cont…) 5. The music must be easy to read. Neatness counts! 6. All stemsmust face the correct direction. 7. A double bar line will mark the end of your composition. 8. Your lyrics must reflect the Christian witness.

  6. IN A NUTSHELL • Create rhythm • Create melody • Create lyrics and title. • Notate your composition on giant flip chart. • Rehearse and perform it.

  7. Order • Write down the treble clefs and the time signature on your flip chart paper. • Write out all the rhythms for all the measures on your practice sheet on a single line or space. • Adjust the notes up and down on your staff but keep the rhythm the same. • Add lyrics and title to your song. • Practice performing your song with a musical instrument and adjust the melody.
