  3. What Homer does not know about CALORIES in doughnuts This doughnut weighs 40 grams 1 gram contain (360 ÷ 40) = 9 calories The doughnut contains 360 Calories

  4. Teaching Homer Simpson to burn calories × × 1.036 Kilograms kilometers Calories = To find out how much calories is burn from running we multiply our weight in kilograms with the distance we ran in kilometers and multiply the answer with the number 1.036

  5. How far Homer has to run ? • We know the calories in the doughnut • We know the persons weight • Wecanfind the kilometers by trying numbers that gives us 360 Calories Homer weighs 120 Kilograms Homer must run approximately 3 kilometers

  6. Another way to find the kilometers • We divide 360 by 120 × 1.036 • 120 × 1.036 = 124.32 • 360 ÷ 124.32 = 2.90 kilometers This way we get exact answer because we are using exact number and not guessing.

  7. Knowledgeable / Communicators . I have learned how to calculate the number of calories Homer Simpson burns from running . . I have learned to find how far we need to run so we can burn the calories by trying numbers for kilometers. . Communicate this information on how to calculate how far we should run for a doughnut or anything else we eat that I know the calories for. . I can show what I learned by teaching the runners world calorie formula.

  8. Homer on a diet ! Homer has to make a good health decision by taking good care of his diet because the more calories he has to eat the more he will have to run. He learned that after seeing the arithmetic in the calorie calculator.
