Program format • Cooperative Work Experience at college • College provides liability and Workman’s Comp for new grad participants • HWI funds faculty and coordinates application and selection process
College Component • College provides clinical faculty • Two clinical site visits by college faculty • Weekly reflection journal reviewed and discussed with new grad (email/phone) • Two-three simulation experiences at college • Skills review at college as needed
Hospital Component • Hospitals (managers and/or educators)choose candidates • New Grads participate in the 3-5 days of hospital/unit orientation along with new employees • Hospitals provide 240 hours clinical with a preceptor
Programs Evaluation • Casey Fink New Grad Survey (pre-post confidence) • QSEN Competencies by preceptor(mid and final)
HWI supported programs • Saddleback College - 4 • Golden West College - 3 • Rio Hondo College - 2 • Chaffey College - 1 • Riverside City College -3 (now hospital funded)
Job Placements 75% hire rate
