  1. The Hunger GamesSuzanne Collins2008fiction Brittany M. 5th period

  2. Setting • The story takes place at the square. This is important because this is when they chose the people who will be participating in the games, and its when Katniss volunteers as tribute. The book would be different without the setting because you wouldn’t know who is going to compete in the games.

  3. Characters

  4. Conflict • Katniss has to leave home for a long time and compete in all the games.

  5. Summary of Plot • Katniss, prim and everyone in the town go to the square to see who has to go participate in the games. Prim gets called and Katniss volunteers as tribute. Petta also has to go, they do all the games and the last one surviving wins.

  6. Theme • Volunteering or helping someone out is a good thing. • Text Evidence 1: She won and got a lot of food for her family. • Text Evidence 2: If she didn’t volunteer she could've lost her sister. • Text Evidence 3: She fell in love with Petta.

  7. Point of View • This book is in the 1st persons point on view, which is Katniss. If the book was told in someone else's point of view you would know how they feel and what they are going through instead of Katniss, and the story would completely change.

  8. Symbolism • The bird symbolizes bravery. Katniss is brave to volunteer as tribute. net.archbold.k12.oh.us

  9. Recommendation • I recommended people reading this book, its really good and every chapter I wanted to read more. I don’t like reading the much, but I really liked this book.
