Ancient Hades I choose this picture of Hades for a few reasons. First, the black in the background reflects the Underworld which was his domain and his attribute of death. I also picked it because Hades is sitting on a throne which shows he was a ruler, but of the Underworld. Another reason I picked this was because of the ancient Roman architecture shown around him.
Modern Day Hades This is a picture of Hades drawn in the nineteenth century. I chose this picture first of all because it includes a picture of Hades’ pet Cerubus which isn’t pictured in many paintings of him. Also, it shows him sitting on his throne to show his power over the Underworld and death. It pictures him in Roman garments which tells you the artists was reflecting his importance in Rome. Because of it’s characteristics of Hades shown, I choose this picture.
