Purpose • Father absence is a national crisis. • Solutions must be found and implemented at the local level. • County leaders must build collaborations and coordinate services to mobilize fatherhood in their county. • In 2011 the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood launched the first Ohio County Fatherhood Initiative. • Counties Served • 2011 – Clark, Fairfield, Franklin, Greene, Guernsey, Lorain, Mercer, Montgomery, Muskingum, Stark & Trumbull • 2013 – Cuyahoga, Hamilton, Lake, Lucas & Perry • 2014 – Coshocton, Licking & Richland History Ohio Commission on Fatherhood (OCF)

  3. Present – OCF is currently working with: • Butler County • Clinton County • Delaware County • Portage County • Future (In the Hopper) – • Ashland • Auglaize • Harrison • Knox • Mahoning • Morgan • Ross • Van Wert • Warren • Williams CountiesPresent & Future The Ohio Commission on Fatherhood

Goals of CFI • Raise awareness of the importance of father involvement. • Make Family Serving Agencies more father inclusive. • Remove barriers • Teach counties how to identify and apply for sustaining funding for fatherhood programming. • County Leadership Team • County Commissioner or State Representative • Family or Domestic Relations Judge • Director of Child Support • Director of Child Welfare • Leader of a Local Faith Based entity or business • Father active in the community Getting Started The Ohio Commission on Fatherhood

The Ohio Practitioners’ Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF) • Developed a tool kit to train each county. • Provides each county with two trainers and up to six months of training • Training consists of: • Webinars, • Workshops • Technical Assistance. • Assist the leadership team with Need and Asset Assessments specific to their county. • Assist with development of Design Team • Assist with all leadership and community meetings • Assist with the development and implementation of the Action Plan Training Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF)

OPNFF’s mission as the CFI coaching partner is to provide leadership, planning, advocacy, and evaluation in support of individuals and organizations that are working with/investing in fathers to improve outcomes for children, families, and communities. OPNFF’s CFI Mission Ohio Commission on Fatherhood (OCF)

  8. Community will be provided a CFI Mobilization Tool Kit to facilitate the completion of an Action Plan to achieve their community’s CFI Mission. County CFI leaders will be made aware of the requirements of the Summary Report and Action Plan due at the completion of the project. County CFI leaders will be provided information for resource development and CFI sustainability. Leaders will meet fellow-CFI colleagues and will have opportunities to formulate networking contacts and collaborations.   9. Leadership Team (County applicant and mandatory community leaders) Responsibilities • Initiate surveys and assessments • Recruit community stakeholders for Design Team • Write Community Action Plan Creating a Team Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF)

Local, state, and national risk factors comparison • Asset map to identify existing and potential father-family serving resources • Alignment of asset map with Lifespan of Fatherhood Service Model for gap analysis • Father-inclusive Practices of Community Organizations Surveys & Assessments Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF)

The lifespan of fatherhood begins with young men who are not yet fathers, continues through pregnancy, childbirth, infancy, early childhood, the school years and on through to grandfathers and adult male mentors who work with young men, teaching and guiding them to plan to become fathers at the right time for them and their families. Design Team (Leadership Team, representative from provider groups, community stakeholders and “champion(s) of fatherhood”) Responsibilities • Complete assessments and gather community data • Plan 2 events • Fatherhood / Community Conversation • Stakeholders / Sustainability • Develop the CFI Organization Structure (including selection of County Fatherhood Coalition Members) • Write Action Plan • Create a Sustainability Structure Evolving the Team Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF)

  15. “Fatherhood Conversations” are based upon the World Café model. • The emphasis in the Conversationis to find connections across a wide range of interests to address compelling questions. • The questions are designed to generate meaningful conversation/dialogue, while the process is designed to include, and hear from, as many community stakeholder groups as possible. These groups are represented at both the Conversation and Planning stages of the process. • During the process, ‘Champions of Fatherhood’ will surface. These community members should be engaged to move the CFI forward, explore paths to sustainability. Fatherhood Conversations Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF)

Statistics that demonstrate the need for a county fatherhood initiative • Inventory of available county assets and resources • Categories of needs and gaps that align with the Life Span of Fatherhood Services • Completed CFI Organizational Structure which includes the collaborative team and potential funders • Discussion of next steps (after June 30, 2017) Summary Report/Action Plan Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF)

County Fatherhood Initiative (CFI) (Leaders/Stakeholders committed to stay involved after June 30, 2017) Responsibilities • Implement M.O.U (Memorandum of Understanding) The CFI Mission is to provide leadership, planning, advocacy, and evaluation in support of individuals and organizations that are working with/ investing in fathers to improve outcomes for children, families, and communities. • Implement Action Plan • Support Sustainability Plan Evolving the Team Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF)
