Electives Important for Preparing for CFA exams Key Courses (Covering major portions of content) BU387 – Intermediate Accounting I BU397 – Intermediate Accounting II BU423 – Options, Futures and Swaps BU449 – Fixed Income Analysis BU473 – Investment Management Additional Relevant Course BU463 – Advanced Corporate Finance

For Bay Street Careers…consider the Laurier Student Investment Fund Laurier Student Investment Fund…Look for e-mail from Department office and be sure to apply in May About 15-18 students selected on basis of minimum A- grades and strong interest in equity analysis (work experience in Finance helps as well) BU400 – Advanced Equity Analysis I BU410 – Advanced Equity Analysis II

  8. Non-Finance Courses that go well with Finance Electives Economics Macro, micro and econometrics Intermediate financial accounting (BU387 and BU397) – especially for students who want to pursue corporate finance and those preparing for CFA Taxation (BU357)
  9. Some Caveats for BU403 BU403 – Entrepreneurial Finance relies on cases, Excel models, readings and term project (there is no textbook) Some students find this format unduly challenging esp. those students who want a lot of practice questions – if you are one such student, do not sign up for this course! Students need to be prepared to read and think carefully – more technical than other Entrepreneurial electives
