Alternate Fuels and Efficiency Programs: D-F Hythane • Pressure reducer, from ~50psi on line to ~5psi into engine. • To gas manifold line • programmable controller, monitors temp/vibration/gen load, adjusts sub rate • E-stop, optional wired into Methane/fire detectors • From kit into intake manifold of diesel engine • CNG manifold in motor house • One kit per generator set

  3. Alternate Fuels and Efficiency Programs: LNG kits • Ambient vaporizer (LNG boils at -260 degrees) • LNG 2TK tri-hull transport trailer • Pressure and choke lines • Buried electrical and gas lines to rig

  4. Alternate Fuels and Efficiency Programs: Dedicated NG • Catalytic Converter for methane escape • Artificial load bank • CAT G3516 generator set • Use with field gas/LNG/CNG (currently on LNG)

  8. conclusion • Adopting natural gas is manageable - requires learning • Dual fuel is flexible, but dedicated natural gas engines yield higher savings • Field gas is preferred where available, but consistency and supply stability trump gas cost savings. • For dedicated natural gas engines, turbines have tested well, but spark ignited engines are plug & play. Load banks will be required in many cases. • Strong conversion economics are needed to justify transition challenges
