The Sundial, left, was erected in 1940 to honor the nine men who gave their lives in the fight for Texas’ liberty at the Battle of San Jacinto, April 21, 1836. Being washed are the pink granite base and lime-stone circular walkway. The DRT Panels, center, were built in 1937 by the State of Texas in recognition of the San Jacinto Chapter’s efforts to “acquire and mark the Battlegrounds of San Jacinto where our Republic was born”. The Boulder, right foreground, marks the location of a Texian Army camp, where men waited to battle the forces of self-appointed Mexican dictator Santa Anna.

Douglas works on the limestone Great Stone Circle walkway, using Alklean trailer with 260 gallon water tank and dual hose reels.
Is Douglas contemplating the replica of the “Twin Sisters” cannons, which were used in the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836…or the dirt-encrusted limestone?
